Velvet Box is an international collective of young artists, coming together to develop innovative cross-disciplinary events and projects. From exhibitions and festivals, to magazine editorials and merchandising, the heart of all its activities is a desire to make good art accessible to the public, to find young artists, give them greater exposure, and combine their talents to create events that will capture the public imagination, ultimately adding to the vitality of the arts scene across Europe.
Kerwin Datu has collaborated with Velvet Box in the creation of their inaugural touring exhibition of works of art and fashion, the Awakening, opening in Bilbao, September 28, 2007, and designed and constructed the exhibition installation, Phyllotaxis, in which the works were displayed.
Velvet Box currently draws artists from backgrounds in fashion, photography, drawing, painting, video, installation, performing, illustration, architecture and design. In accordance with its missions, Velvet Box is constantly recruiting artists to join in its projects. Please contact the association for further information.
